A ccTLD is a country code top-level domain extension that is assigned to a country in the world. Each country has their own domain extension based on the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes. This means that all ccTLDs are only two characters, and all two character TLDs are ccTLDs. The first ccTLDs delegated were .US for the United States, .UK for the United Kingdom, and .IT for Italy in 1985.

A country code top-level domain is an Internet top-level domain generally used or reserved for a country, sovereign state, or dependent territory identified with a country code. All ASCII ccTLD identifiers are two letters long, and all two-letter top-level domains are ccTLDs.

    Hi Friends,
The top level domain or the TLD which comes in the last part of the Domain Name can be classified into ccTLD and the gTLD. While the gTLD is generic in nature, and does not relate to any geographical location, the ccTLD refers to a country. Each countries have been assigned own domain extension. Thus a ccTLD used after the final period of a Domain Name will guide the search engines and the users about the geographical location of registration of the website.

Let us put an example of an imaginary Domain Name such as www.yyy.nx, where the last part nx refers to the ccTLD. Typically all ccTLDs comprise of two characters. Therefore, if you find any two characters TLD, you should know that it is ccTLD.

Some of the most common ccTLDs are:

    .fr for France

    .uk for United Kingdom

    .eu for European Union

    .cn for China

    .ca for Canada

    .au for Australia

    .in for India

    ccTLD- Country Code Top-level Domain

It is a domain extension basis on the country.

    For example,

    For UK ccTLD- .uk

    For Australia- .au

    For Canada- .ca
