So what is a nice number in the overture search results then? Because I've search some weird domains and it comes up with searches. there's this site that doesn't make sense but still has around 744 search results last Dec 2005

It doesn't work like that as there are many variables that come into play like industry, geographic origin, the word order/grouping algorithm effect etc. if you've not read the various threads on how ov fits into the toolbag then its worth doing so - heres one:

When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

Thanks for the tread, I hope to learn more on how to acquire valuable domains...but I've already read the thread and still have some questions like how exactly do you determine a good domain name? now I know one of the criterion to check it at Overture but you also said in another thread (I think) that some results in Ovt may have been caused by domainers themselves that's why there's a small number of searches coming up from Ovt, right?

parked domains-sedo program
i need to review this a little more closely, but sedo has a program that is closer to the business 2.o article than what we've been discussing. i'm leaving my current location now and can't stay to follow up, but try going to the main page and clicking 'parked domains.
ciao

nice threads
i'm completely new to this whole domain thing, but i'm doing some heavy research on it. I registered a name in godaddy.com and what I want to do with this name is put certain websites on my page so people can click on it. it's a name that fit the adult ent. biz, for spanish adult websites (like 8thstreetlatinas.com for example) that I want the links to be. The name is pretty catchy and I know it will generate users through my various promo activities. my question is what comes first the aggregator or the links? and if the links are supposed to come first how do I go about putting these links on my page so I can make money? Do I have to pay the links to park on my page or what? please let me know, your opinions are very much appreciated.
thanks

I think you need to do a lot more research about what aggregators are - you are talking about doing "promo activities", this is a no-no if you plan to use them. This is covered in this and many other threads on the site.
Aggregators are there to provide a full-service means to convert existing traffic to revenue by showing advertisers listings to the traffic and sharing revenue they are paid from the advertiser via the search engine for the traffic that clicks through to the advertisers sites.
The bottom line is for this model, its down to getting domains with traffic -if you don't have traffic then parking isn't the best route to take as you don't have the raw materials that the revenue is paid for.
If you want to control the exact links on your site yourself, you'd need to look at going the affiliate route and look at who will pay you to carry links on the site.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

thanx for the response
very helpful reply safesys. but i'm still a little confused about the traffic part b/c this is not an existing domain. I came up with it and registered it myself.so how can I generate traffic on a brand new domain to bring it to the aggregators then?
(also the domain name is a spanish name and I would like to attract the spanish crowd to this name)
thanx for the help

1) lock away the credit card and invest time in research - running before you can walk will cost you money. Our domainer glossary should help you get to grips with most common aspects of this business:
There is an option other than going on a spending spree:
I read the B 2.0 article and thought "Gee, I have all these domains I registered with good intentions of developing but then never got around to it".
I figure if any of them pay for themselves by time they expire in mid-december I'll keep em. Fun to tinker with either way.
Ho-humm.

At what volume of traffic should I consider moving a domain from Sedo to another (higher paying) company?

What is Business 2.0? What article are we referencing in this thread?
I am a newbie if you couldn't tell

There are many domain parking services that only offer a blocked listing of ads which will never receive much traffic and the chances of getting paid through clicks is very low. So be careful while selecting a service and make sure it creates fresh content.
