Matt Cutts speaks at Domain Round Table

    http://www.johnon.com/543/mattcutts-...oundtable.html
Matt asked how many people were into domaining because it was like a garage sale, where you find a rare book worth alot on sale for only 50 cents. He also asked how many were init for the money, and then how many had a livelong commitment to cating new content and publishing content of value to users on the web….

Earthday.org parked page… says it is relevant. Lots of user stuff. Complete new user might be happy landing on it. A savvy user will not be as happy with it. Matt suggested hiring a blogger to be the EarthDay Blogger for 10% of the eventual value… cherry pick your top 10,20 domains and give a blogger sme equity to write content.
Q; on tld’s and their impact on ranking. Matt says early literature shows G didn’t care about what TLD was using.. just # links and how reputable those links were.
Some people don’t want their ads showing on parked pages. Matt says Google helps show people how the domain channel can work as a profitabl advertising channel.
Matt says if a domain changes hands, Google resets the links vale to zero/near zero.
Generic domains that users are likely to remember, will indeed carry more weight than others. There is a real value to those FuneralHomes.com for example. Google does give keywords in the URL a certain amount of weight, but you don’t need it in order to rank
Q: Parked Domains: ” We try to detect parked domains, and once they leave theirparked status, we let them in relatively quickly”

Wow the spelling and grammar in that blog entry are, quite honestly, appalling. It almost made my eyes bleed. It's very hard to take someone seriously on such a subject when the communication basics are so overlooked. Having said that an interesting article and lots to take on board there so thanks warsteiner.

Matt is a nice enough guy, but I've heard him speak 3 times in the last 4 years, and virtually NOTHING he has said in those 4 years has turned out to be true.

He has 'low PR value' in my brain index as a result. Content not accurate.

I think he was live blogging, resulting in the poor spelling and grammar. The blog author really knows his SEO.

How about if we just change whois? does that set link value to zero also?
