Thumbs up I've left the ICANN Business Constituency

I've decided to vote with my feet, and leave the ICANN Business Constituency:

I don't think they will be quite as "blown-away" and stunned as Jennifer ...who you pretty much left standing at the alter earlier this week.

Dwight: [reading his resignation letter] Although I love this company more than almost anything in the world, I have decided to step down from my post and spend more time with my family. I do not fear the unknown. I will meet my new challenges head on and I will succeed. And I will laugh in the faces of those who doubt me. It’s been a pleasure working with some of you – and I will not forget those of you soon. But remember, while today it is me…we all shall fall...in other words, I’m quitting.

Just two follow-ups so far, huh? I'd be shocked if more would reply
    to your going.

George, you worked tirelessly for BC.
I use to get exhausted following all that you did for BC and the domain industry.

Your insight, wisdom and effort will be missed by the BC.
And, thank you for all that you did with the BC for the domain community.

All of us in the domain community appreciate your attempt to make Icann more friendly.

Your decision is certainly understandable George and I appreciate the remarkable job you have done in examining what ICANN does and holding them accountable. I certainly hope you continue doing so. Some of the things you have brought to light and helped stop or alter have saved domain registrants an untold amount of money. The entire community is in your debt.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I'll still keep an eye on ICANN issues from time-to-time, albeit from afar. Others might want to pay closer attention, though.

If ICANN were genuinely interested in representing the interests of varied stakeholders, then the "Business Constituency" could be a productive format for hearing the community and receiving high level input.

The truth is that ICANN historically have adopted a dismissive deameanor whenever Georoge or others have begun to ask tough questions. This has been seen in a number of online forums as well as in ICANN's public comment responses to questions that went straight to issues of accountability, judgement, anf fairness.

I have repeatedly witnessed ICANN side-stepping and trivializing issues that were critically important, but which were counter to their internal agenda. I became a critic of the organization when it became apparent that ICANN would put the minority interests of themselves, or a few select others, ahead of the vast majority.

Kudos to George for trying to become involved. The reality is that ICANN want only "yes men" in the mix. Independent thinkers and reasoned analysis naturally introduce questions & concerns ICANN do not want to deal with.
