Actually your banning wasn't much to do with your sig, you were banned because of the way you reacted publically when image signature's were disabled. Changing your username to something extremely long and offensive and posting garbage. I'm sure many of the people around back then would remember your childish tirade.

I'm sure it was Dan who banned you back then though you gave him little choice and had to react quickly when you changed your username and set out to cause as much damage as you could.

There was nothing wrong about changing my username, just because you did not disable that feature. I actually used up my DNF dollars to change it. The system allowed me 40+ characters so what? As a programmer you should know that all case scenarios should be examined so that a program won't crash. My intention was to demonstrate against the suppression of expression that you are also exercising against at this point.

Oh well whatever. What ticks me off is the constant "tweaking" of rules and micromanagement that everyone has to undergo per the mods' moods. That's why I have been promoting [snip - self promotion] as the FREE domain discussion community. Matt asked me to remove it from my sig, I guess you guys can't deal with competition. What's next, tomorrow this will turn into another DNF saga.

We assume members will behave professionally, thats all we ask. When we give an inch and people take a yard it means we have to implement changes that affect some of the good guys too - but by and large most members understand why we do it.

That's why I complied, but this doesn't mean I have to like it.

No, and I'm grateful that this time you didn't throw a tantrum like last time - although pimping your own site isn't exactly professional either imo.

So you changed your username to something which fills a third of screen and contains an offensive statement about the owner of the forum and then you rationalise this is the kind of thing that is quite ok since it is technically possible to do? I guess the nonsense posting was appropriate also since its technically possible? Unfortunately for you most forums have standards and people generally won't allow that kind of abuse.

That's just your personal opinion. Professionalism is not damaged by one's attempt to self-promote. I appreciate the other remark.

The "abuse" was only possible because someone was too lazy to tweak basic features of the vBulletin forum they were running. And yes, in the name of freedom of speech I was able to protest the ridiculous reasons given for the banning of image sigs. On top of that, anyone can turn off seeing signatures of any kind, so the new rules are very unnecessary IMO.

I've had to edit your post as self promotion is not allowed in the news forum as per our rules.

It's ok, we all know my forum is the one that was created before Domainstate and because of the events at DNF.

Why I still come here? Because I like the News/Warnings discussions. Sale-wise I have not achieved anything spectacular through DS because it's not sale-centric. DNF is (or rather, was).

Have a good day gentlemen, enjoy your shorter signatures.

Not sure why you feel the need to mention that or what its supposed to show, but if it makes you feel better then I'm glad we were able to give you eyeballs for your comment.

To correct you, we are not *reseller* sales centric - we encourage members to play the real domain game with end users sales.

The best test is to offer domains with commercial end user appeal and good price tags.

Yes 218. I'm sorry I rose to the bait - but despite popular myth, I am actually human.

That is a total misrepresentation of what I asked you and others to do.

    "Theo,

Would you please alter your sig to match the site rule written below.

    5. Signature:

You may list up two links in your signature. However, affiliate links are not allowed in signatures and please see the section on "Other Domain Forums." Your signature should be standard size font and not more than two lines (this limit includes any blank lines or gaps).

    Thanks

    Matt "
    Is what I said.

What ticks me off is when the rules stated you could have three lines in sigs some members had up to 12 lines. That's the problem Theo - you give people an inch and they take a mile.

"can't handle competition"??? When mods of other forums come here and start posting stuff in sales threads like " Why not list it at dnf" or similar that ain't competition it's out and out spam and if you don't like it, our tweaking of the rules, bad luck. They are tweaked to combat members that abuse this forum.

    Matt
