Wow, that was overwhelming, but I love it. Thanks a lot for taking the time to post that. I'm going to do so much more research now that I have a clearer picture. Thanks again.

    .bz

I've noticed that not many people are buying .bz names. Is there something wrong with this ext?

About the keyword selector tool: I put in "big celebration"
and it says there are "No suggestions for big celebration".
Is this to suggest that not a single person did a search for this term the entire month of OCtober? I find that very hard to believe.

you can find it hard to believe, but that's true.
You have no idea on how many times happened to me..

Furthermore "big" is not the best adjective to link with celebration. I suppose that happy or happiest would be better

In regard to .bz domains, they're good for Belize.

Thanks again bidawinner for all the info. I know it's just the tip of the iceberg but you generously gave us more than enough to keep busy. I really appreciate the info. I have one queston that's probably a dumb one but I'll ask anyway. In the field of emerging technology there are a lot of terms that aren't being searched yet but in a few years may well be. Am I correct to assume that just because no one is searching for it yet, that they never will? I'm sure someone has come up with a program to find the most searched names now and already have registered the good ones. I know thousands of people are doing the same thing but there are also thousands of new ideas, products, buzzwords, that will be common in the future but unknown to most now. I don't imagine very many people were searching for ipods five years ago. Also is it sometimes better not to have a lot of quoted google search results for your name so you don't have as much competition to get to the top of the page? I'm guessing it's a combo of everything but I'm still dumber than dirt. :-) Thanks again for taking the time to help us out. I really appreciate the help, hope you win some more bids.

I add my thanks. I've been learning while buying and selling for months and thei us the best aggregation of information about the market I've seen. and timely too when magazine and news articles are making it sound like anyone can capitalize on type-ins and get rich!

    I have a few questions:

What's the best registrar? I know that a while back enom offered $4.95 ETPs but no more. What's the best now?

Sales sites: should you advertise on all of them or are some better than others?

I know some people create their own parking pages instead of using a middleman. Do they make a lot more that way and how does someone get started in that direction?

Finally, the big question: how do you determine domain name valuation?

I know this is a lot but maybe others in the know would like to help us newbies with answers.

    And thanks again!

overture results only kick in at 25, or some number similar so searches could have been done just didnt meet minimum requirement for posting, also even if number was 100 doesnt mean only 100 searches were done could be higher or lower just an estimate, probably higher, i have overture name with ext that says 25 when actually gets 500 views a month, overture is a just a tool that gives a good idea about keyword searches done with overture, if i am wrong some of the veterans feel free to correct me. so big celebration could have had several searches done by different web browsers but not enough to score 25 with overture

Doesn't seem that hard to believe - the term isn't in the wordtracker top 500k terms list.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

    Bidawinner,

I'm one of those newbies with my wallet hanging open. Thanks for the information. It's very helpful.

One question for you. I'm considering your suggestions of other TLDs. I understand the strategy of developing pages with relevant useful content. If you develop a site on a .ws domain for instance, how do you bring traffic there? Your site at airlines.ws is great. But I searched Google and Yahoo for "airlines" and didn't see your site on the first page. How are you generating traffic?

    Thanks,
    Omeriah
