Post Two-Step Poll: Extension Preference by Country

    DomainState/DNJournal Two-Step Poll:
    Extension Preference by Country

    Introduction:

The purpose of this poll is to measure preference for domain extensions (such as .COM, .NET, etc.) by country of residence. The poll has two steps. Please read the instructions before voting.

    First Step:

Find your country in the list below. If your country's name has a link, then click on this link to go to your country's page. If your country does not yet have a link, then please let us know in a comment below and we will create a link. Countries are listed in descending order of estimated internet users.

    Second Step:

When you get to your country's page, please vote for those extensions that you think are worthwhile for registering and/or developing domains -- considering the quality of domains available and the prices to obtain those domains (by registering or by purchasing from others depending on availability). You may vote for multiple extensions.

Click on Your Country (or comment if no link):

    Hi Bob,
I would like to have the option to vote for .us as well.
I think anyone would agree that .us is better than .CC
    and .WS.
    Thanks!

I did think about this... but was not sure that this would be OK with the requirements for .US registration... not an expert on that. What do you and other folks think about that?

.US is officially open to foreign registrations.

Not sure if they are limited to certain countries though...

Okeedokely, DVDrip... per your request I have added .US and dropped .CC for non US countries.

There are around five of you who have answered the poll already... mainly for United Kingdom and Finland... before I added .US as an option. For you five -- if you would like to add a vote for .US in your country's vote page, please send me a PM and I will manually add it in the .US row. Thanks.

They are estimated number of internet users in each country. These numbers may not be the best recent info... but are proably good enough to help me sort the list in a relatively objective manner -- with the most likely countries wherein members reside at the top. I can add pages for other countries as requested.

Does the lack of support for .biz surprise you?
I've observed .biz as the only extension adopted by the true end users. I find you newspapers small businesses such as custom embroidery shops using varsityjackets and several hosting services using .biz
.info and .us I haven't seen gain genuine acceptance.
