As I understand it each .INFO registrar was allow to register a few names during sunrise and there were no TM requirements -- Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Regarding LR3, as I have said many times LR3 is ongoing. I'll run the sunrise list again and post the Sunrise domins currently in Pending Delete state. Everytime I've done this there has allways been about a dozen names in Pending Delete, and I expect LR3 to continue fo a very long time.

I'll post the list as soon as I have it.

If my memory is correct the Sunrise period was reserved for Trademarks ONLY.
I might have printed the conditions pevailing at that time. I will check in my paper mess and revert. (I need to go to storage room 30 feet underground)

    Some info after IlikeInfo posting

On August 15, 2001 Afilias issued a Press statement concerning the "questionable sunrise registration". The title was "Afilias to challenge questionable sunrise registration in .info"The URL was the following: http://www.afilias.info/press-room/r...20010815-1.htm

Unfortunately Afilias has removed the above page from their site.

They also had a page whose URL was: http://www.afilias.info/faq/sunrise-challenge.htm
The title of the page was: Sunrise Challenge
At the bottom of the printed page they wrote:

    Quote
The only base for a valid challenge to a Sunrise registration are if:
    1. At the time of registration of the domain name, no current trademark or service mark registration was issued in the registrar's name,
    2. The domain name registered is not identical to the textual or word elements of the trademark or service mark that is registered, or
    3. The registration of the trademark or service mark registered is not of national effect or was not issued prior to October 2, 2000.
    Unquote

What appears from the above and from the pages I had printed at that time is that Trademark owners had the opportunity to challenge the owneship of names during the Sunrise Challenge period. Therefore those who did not challenge the names during this perion would have to go through the WIPO arbitration procedure.
Nothing was said about people registring domain names with wrong information (bogus registration) on ownership, addresses or trademarks (nonexisting trademark). I recall that sometime later they came up with the requirement of manitaining the whois information accurate. I feel that bogus registrations could be challenged on this basis, specially if the trademark was erroneous or non existing.
But remember, Wipo arbitration is a costly procedure and the complainant has to prove that he is entitled to having the domain name transfered to him.

I do apologise for the lenght of the comment but I hope it will help

I to had read the above and am familiar with that rule. However I seem to recall that applied to "public" registrations. In other words I thought I had heard / read that registrars were allowed to reserve a few names for themselves and those did not have any TM requirements. The most obvious and natural reason for doing this would be to grab names that are same or confusingly similar to their company name. But of course such a rule could be abused.

Again, my memory is not so sharp on the above point so it might be I have my facts wrong. But the above list looks to my like names DirectI could have reserved for itself and has now distributed.

Either way I'm not trying to make any judgements on the issue. But as for the names that were not appropriately obtained I think the list I've provided above does demonstrate that Afilias is doing something about those registrations.
