    New way of domain monetization.

I am beginning to get a little concerned about ppc revenues that keep going down every month and have been wondering if there is anything that Fabulous could do independent of the search engines to come up with a new way of domain monetization. From what I understand Fabulous has one of the largest portfolios and one of the best organizations in the domain industry and along with all the traffic from other domainers perhaps they can establish a direct relationship with advertisers and bypass the greedy providers that want to squeeze everyone out of business. IMO

PS: Mike if you can make my ppc revenues go up again perhaps I can afford to fuel up my private yacht and come to the conference down under.

i believe DBS also operates www.Roar.com which might be in line with what you're suggesting

You have a comma in your link.

All I know about Roar.com is it's used by Fab for domains which do not qualify for the premium program and the ppc values with the Roar PPC feed are *extremely* low based on my past experience with it.

It Roar.com is also a PPA program (as was the now cancelled Google Referral PPA) I assume the results would be much better than the Roar ppc feed?

Maybe Mike could shed some light on this?

didn't DBS buy a while back CJ ?
wonder why they don't implement PPA into all their feeds as it should be quite easy to do.

    Hi guys,

Sorry I missed this thread, I was out of the office visiting family. I'll do my best to answer all the questions now.

We have noticed a drop in EPC network wide on domains monetized with us and have put it down to a number of factors:
    • 1. The weaker economic environment in the US

      2. Generally fewer advertisers (as observed by Dark Blue Sea) leading to a reduction in bid prices and coverage and hence overall yield received by Dark Blue Sea

      3. Changes to the way that online advertisers can place advertisements via the advertiser interfaces of the major search advertising networks; and

      4. An overall uncertain strategic landscape stemming from the unsuccessful takeover bid for Yahoo by Microsoft and the subsequent outsourcing of search advertising to Google by Yahoo.
    Taken from our Quarterly Report

Over the past few months there have been a number of forum and blog posts about this and it seems that all of the Parking companies are experiencing the same thing. I would recommend reading the following blog posts, from someone who seems to have inside knowledge at Google, which may also explain the decline in revenues we are all seeing:
As The Columbian mentioned, we do run our PPC network, Roar.com. Initially we used these results on all of our parked pages. However, after we moved to a Google implementation, a lot of the advertisers left, as we were sending the bulk of our traffic to Google. These days, Roar.com is primarily used for Gambling/Casino domains and also still has some Adult advertisers.

We also have our own CPA program (as trader mentioned), DarkBlue.com. The CPA model was never really the success we had initially thought it would be, so whilst we have a number of advertisers still buying traffic, there isn't the depth of advertisers as other Affiliate Networks like CJ and LinkShare have.

I guess we envisioned that these two products (Roar.com and DarkBlue.com) would be alternative offerings to compete with the likes of Google/Yahoo, CJ, LinkShare, etc, however, we soon realized there was a lot of resources needed to recruit and manage advertisers. Also, Google, Yahoo, CJ, LinkShare, etc, were already doing a great job of this (and we could easily tap into their feeds), so it didn't make sense for us to continue doing this ourselves. As such, we chose to allocate resources, time and effort to other projects, such as Fabulous and the DDN, where we could be more competitive.

Both Roar.com and DarkBlue.com are still functional, and could quite possibly be "resurrected" (so to speak), in the future if needed.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

    Cheers,

    Mike
