    Thumbs up getDay()

    This method returns the day of the week as an integer from 0 to 6. The day of the week is calculated according to the other attributes, so this method does not have a corresponding setDay() method. Here is an example:

    Code:
    ar = new Array(7)
    ar[0] = "Sunday"
    ar[1] = "Monday"
    ar[2] = "Tuesday"
    ar[3] = "Wednesday"
    ar[4] = "Thursday"
    ar[5] = "Friday"
    ar[6] = "Saturday"
    var birthday = new Date("January 3, 1978")
    var day = birthday.getDay()
    alert("You were born on " + ar[day])

    The date.getDay() is an inbuilt function in JavaScript which is used to fetch the day of a week from a given Date object. ... Day of the week will be returned in the form of integer value ranging from 0 to 6 means 0 for Sunday, 1 for Monday and so on till 6 for Saturday.

    The getDay() method returns the day of the week for the specified date according to local time, where 0 represents Sunday. For the day of the month, see Date.prototype.getDate().
