    Site developing

Ok, I've got a small list of domains now I would like to develop them. I think I am creative enough to make a good looking site. What software do you guys recommend that I use?

Wordpress. It's powerful and simple to use (and free). A person new to it can install it in 10 minutes and know the basics in an hour.

There are also plenty of free designs (called "themes") available to give your website a polished look.

Atlas, do you not think there is an advantage worth the $79 or $199 in buying RevolutionCity from WP...

as its tailored to Geo development? I believe G2P's recent reg's are mainly Geos and so the development goals are Geo oriented. Thoughts, please.

Yes, I like Revolution City and I've actually purchased the "developer package" so that I get unlimited use of all the Revolution themes.

I think that using the Revolution City theme is a bit more complicated than using an average theme, but well worth the effort to figure out. Also, I think it's more suited for a larger website - not worthwhile if you're just doing a 5 to 10 page "mini" website.

Atlas - I'm interested whether you went with Revolution City because you think the end product is better than custom building your own site (ie not wordpress), or just because it is faster/easier? Or both?

I looked at Wordpress and it seems a little generic for my taste. I actually want to create what goes onto my site. Granted it won't look cnn.com by any means, but I have a basic idea already of what I want my geos to look like.

As for my "flight" domains I am still lost on what to do.
I am a reseller...I reg it, you offer to buy it within the hour for $1K. Any questions?

Thanks. I still am waiting (or maybe I missed) the ability to grant / incorporate outside / independent ie: "Bermuda Beach and Swim B&B" advertisers. Have you seen that? WP said it was in the works - and, to me, that's where the monthly revenue cranks up...

It's faster / easier / cheaper. Also, very attractive looking. But I'm building "webmaster level" websites rather than major city .com's. For larger websites, I'd recommend something custom built, but probably around an open source script like Joomla.

I'm not sure what you mean - a directory? classifieds?

Sorry. I just mean the ability to have the local hotel or cafe advertise on the site via a sign up page using a credit card.

Also, can anyone recommend a reliable hosting company compatible with both WP / Revolution as well as the Mac OS - using Firefox and / or Safari, please?

I found out that Dreamweaver is a part of Creative Suite CS3. I had already planned on buying the software from my school since I can get it so cheap. Looks like Dreamweaver is right up my alley as I want to make a really nice looking site.

You should definitely consider wordpress, there are literally hundreds of free templates in addition to the revolution themes, which are very nice and fully customizable.

Check out this page of full of free themes.

I agree that some of those templates look really nice. However, I can't help but to think that all visitors to my site would think the same way I do. If I were to go to a site and see a barebones template like that I would never want to go back.

I'm so picky when it comes to layouts that it takes me hours just to find one I like for MySpace.

I hear that, just think about what stage you're at. You're registering domains and investigating possibilities. That's beyond the scope of the average internet user. They're not thinking what you are. You just want them to click your adsense.

Agree. The visitors are not as sophisticated as you seem to assume imo.
