Improving adsense relevance
This is probably old news, but I've found using this has helped improved the relevance (and hence ctr) of adsense ads:

it lets you define the text on the page that you want adsense to use to determine the ads that are displayed .
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

Another section by google (adsense) on how to do things - as if they are not trying so very hard already to complicate the simple task of placing an ad.
If google would write a user guide for a toaster, it would be more voluminous than the Sunday Edition of the New York Times.

it's not compulsory to use it - but there are times when there are things on the page that you don't want google to take into account for determining contextual ads.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

The option is optional you may use standard one also if necessary then only you may edit according to your content.

thanks for the tip Safesys, sent it along to my developer, don't think he's aware of that tool... hope it works cuz it is definitely frustrating to see ads that aren't relevant on your website's pages
