Many are little more than a childish cartoon and makes the member appear to be unbusinesslike and comical. If a corporate executive visits this site and gets plastered with all these cartoon characters upon his first visit it would seem to make the entire site look like a joke and non-businesslike.
Realnames, Not everyone is here to do business with other members - the choice of avatar is down the individual.
In all honesty, if a corporate executive visited the site I think there are other things that would make an impact rather than the avatars. This site is not aimed at those people and neither is it realistic to have expectations that they will choose to waste their time frequenting forums for something that is not a part of their business focus.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

200% agree with this statement.
I learn(t) a lot here thanks to mods/owners Matty, Safe, and Snoopy making this place how it is.
Keep up the good work guys

Didn't you use to have an avatar ?
No, never had an avatar and never would have one.
I never said the 62,000 member forum was better, contrarily DS is actually the best for domains, especially the 3 excellent Admins, even if one of them is a no good low life rotten Patronizer from down-under from a nation formed long ago by criminals who were sent there to settle the land of OZ

Of course but just wondering why you as our guru and leader do also not have an avatar Safe could it be due to the reasons mentioned?

I think smileys are un-proffesional and deter "big business people" from conducting transactions here...
Is there a way I can put smileys on "ignore"....?

This actually made me laugh. Good sense of humour shown here Dave.

Hi Karen, either you have misread posts, they may have been jokes, or misunderstood by you, or have me mixed up with someone else, I have praised DS and the Admins in many posts.
I hope you don't think I said that below and quoted by Matty, it was said by someone else early in the thread, and the patronizing thing was really nothing important and later turned into a joke.

Yes, being known as a patronizer right about now wouldn't be a smart thing considering my lack of integrity, ethics, professionalism and leadership qualities also being exposed. We certainly don't want to break the camels back.

from time to time... when there is some turmoil at DS some old opportunistic members reappear... their strategy.: divide and conquer.
it never works !
as a rule of thumb "Forum/Mod bashing " threads become "Mod praising "threads ...
( strangely also that sometimes it coincides with other Domain Forums turmoil ... rats are the first to jump of a burning Ship... )

Actually Karen, I did not start the avatar controversy, it was started by Juniper Park before I got on the bandwagon. Juniper's quote is below:
"....Consider how you've given the power to control your emotions over to a silly message board full of cartoon avatars....

Rats? Don't you think that's a little overboard? Yuk, yuk, yuk...

Not sure what you are referring to here Karen but I really do not like the untrue innuendo. I think you are simply making a mistake or somehow confused, please explain.
P.S. I hope you don't mind me editing this post karen as I had to correct a typo spelling error involving the word think which was spelled wrong. In the future I will try to make certain I explain in minute detail exactly why I edited a post and will be sure to not change or delete anything of substance (not that I ever do anyway)

Yes, I agree with that. While I appreciate all the nice things being said my offer to OnSpec or any other member that wishes to expose or explain why I ( being a mod ) have or need need to have my ethics questioned.
Expose away - question away.
