Cowboys.com now UnSold from TRAFFIC Live Auction

Cowboys.com attained a winning bid at TRAFFIC Miami Live Auction for $275,000

......HOWEVER it is now posted as back in Silent Moniker Auction......I heard there was evidently a "Hiccup" with the bidder(s).

What are the finer details on exactly what happened ?

That's interesting. IMO the winning bid was low - maybe someone felt their higher (phone?) bid wasn't entered correctly during the live auction?

Probably just a glitch or misunderstanding. Happens in live auctions.

I believe it was won on one bid so sounds likely something like that happened. Personally I thought the price was on the high side, it is a name that mainly appeals to one buyer.

Not sure how that could happen and/or be allowed by Moniker - TRAFFIC guys.....and then be put back in auction.

I was told by a couple of people in the Auction room that the Dallas Cowboys were bidding and that they had winning bid.....don't know how accurate this info really is now.

Let's stay tuned !

when I spoke to their attorney...he was dead serious, had no idea that it was $275K and was shocked when he received the purchase agreement ( he thought he bought it for $275.00 - thats right two hundred and seventy five dollars!). I almost asked him what he was smoking.

after falling out of my chair....not ever experiencing anything like this one, we are going to let this dog stay sleeping for a while. someone should pick this name up and it will ultimately cost the cowboys millions when they finish that $800M stadium they are building. I told the attorney that my guess was that they probably sell $275K in popcorn and beer in one game and that they were foolish not to look at their brand in a different way.

We find a way to turn dirt into diamonds anyway and this will be well past us.

Monte, you'd better check that the buyer of computer.com understands he's gotta pay $2.2 Million, not $2.20

While watching the auction webcast, I remember hearing the auctioneer announcing a sold domain (sorry, can't remember which one) and mistakenly omitting the part with "thousand dollars" from the price. Monte quickly corrected him.

I think it is hard for people not in the domain business to comprehend the enormous value in domain names. Many people wrongly assume that a few hundred dollars is a lot of money to pay for a domain. There is still a long road ahead in educating the general public about the value of quality generic and descriptive domain names.
