I recently developed a domain and wanted to relist as a project

After reading up on how to do it (delete and relist )
I deleted it, then relisted it immediately and then realised I had to wait for them to verify ownership again. After 3 days and no doubt a long weekend for sedo staff where nothing gets done I sent an email saying how long does it take to verify again.

4 hours later an email saying i need to re prove I own it

Surely they could see the IP I deleted it from and immediately added it back again was the same and it all happened within minutes.

Now I have to disable the whois privacy again, so that they can re verify it

Having whois privacy enabled on a name you are trying to sell is counter productive anyway.

With all the stolen/hijacked domains going around, Sedo's insistence on verification is a good thing. You brought this all on yourself with the privacy issue, nothing "pathetic" about them trying to protect YOU by making sure.

Why is it counter productive?

I am not saying the verification is not needed, if you read the post properly you would have seen it was about changing a simple domain listing to a project and the process involved

What you are not seeing is that once you deleted your listing, that domain was deleted from the system. Adding domains requires verification, which protects the registrant (you). Without contact privacy, that would have been an automated process and you'd not have an issue.

I get it that you think it should not require this again and somehow be "remembered" from last time, but that's not the way their database works. 5 minutes or 5 months after, makes no difference.

Your insistence on contact privacy is counter productive in this case because they cannot auto-verify ownership. Also, anyone actively trying to sell a domain, a website, or a project that uses contact privacy to obfuscate whois details is counter productive anyway as it removes transparency of ownership and will cause buyers to wonder... not really rocket science to understand that.

Your point about the whois is noted but not really relevant to my post, apart from the fact that sedo requires it (and I agree they should) with all NEW listings.

My post was about why does it need to be deleted in the first place and then submitted as a NEW listing simply to upgrade it from a domain name for sale to a project website for sale, why do they assume the owner has changed simply because it has gone from domain to website.

But 'Pathetic' was a bit strong so I'll downgrade to strange
