DCC ... did you ever get the 27K you were trying to get from the British Heart Foundation for bhf.org? I guess not, as you won the WIPO but they still wouldn't pay your bounty ... so you forwarded it to a porn site...real classy!
... yea .. let's all join this man's domain discussion board ...

Shaun,
Yup, I won the UDRP regarding the generic acronym domain BHF.ORG, so I guess I can't be *that* bad an actor.

But boy, those Brits were snooty as hell, as if the world owed them. LOL.
It's a often cited arbitration case. I am glad I could make history. Maybe it will help *you* out someday when someone tries to steal one of YOUR domains with a bogus UDRP.
That domain isn't for sale. Actually, I don't have ANY domains for sale. But, that said, I value the damages caused to me by that UDRP at closer to 10X the above number you cite.
Catch my drift, ol' buddy?

hi,
the link doesnt work for me. it leads to an error message saying 'page not found'.
-
DCC ... you did me or anyone else any favours. I don't approach Charities and offer them almost worthless .org names for outrageous prices like $56,000 .. then say I'll cut it down to $28,000. Nor do I pressure them by forwarding the name to sites that are designed solely to pressure them to pay your bounty.
Very few that know you in this business ... will have anything to do with you ... Catch my drift, ol' buddy?

Shaun,
That's not what happened. Perhaps someday you will learn that some large organizations play very hard in business, including by mis-using regs like the UDRP.
Why do you feel the need to speak for others, especially in the form of an insult? I am not sure that the world wants you as their spokeman.
Still, today, those figures look like a bargain!

I'm with shaun, putting sexually explicit images with no warning on an innocent sounding domain like bhf.org is pretty lame imo.

Rehashing the whole matter isn't the most pleasant endeavor, but I wasn't quite as horrible a person as was portrayed.
The domain was clearly generic. When I offered to sell the generic domain, it had a very professional landing page on my server (nothing adult). I was willing to offer a large discount considering the nature of their organization.
They were rude to me, not even replying to my very polite communication. As I recall, later, they used an intermediary, their host.
It was all downhill from there. I briefly put up a page that pertained to an industry that would offend and be incongruous, to show the importance of the gTLD.
Then I decided to make money with adult. I used my domain for adult, and have since.
They filed a very lame UDRP, which only contained a single sentence justifying their "common law" trademark. The panelist's analysis was among the best I have seen, and he never even considered the question of my alleged bad faith, since there was no mark.
You can't have bad faith where there is no mark.
Seems like a pretty clear vindication.

Seems there is similar problems with the Salvation Army.

Many charities are corrupt. Look here for starters

DCC
and many people in the domain business have no ethics! Most don't search for .org names that match charities, then approach them with demands for outrageous amounts .. like while they are negotiating ... pointing bhf.org to a tobacco site ... real classy!
Nice dirty little business you have going ... you will NEVER convince most in this business that what you do is ethical or proper.

But yea, I have learned some lessons:
Don't be right and dead.
Try to avoid acronyms that people could make claims on, even if the claims are bogus, because the disputes are a drag.
Charities have much goodwill and presumption of being the "good guy."
Many charities are hypocritical, dishonest, and even blatantly corrupt.
