Makes sense to either give a time or explain that you are making an offer on another name and it'll be first past the post for the funds.

I always stipulate a time if I know I'll need the funds for something else. It does mean you can't make any offers using that money until your designated time expires but it prevents embarassment.

I once got an offer saying "good for 24 hours".
I said yes after 6 hours.
Buyer said he had already spent the funds.
Go figure.
