I am new to the domain reselling world. I am looking at paying quite a bit for a .IT domain. Has anyone here purchased .IT domains before and can you explain to me some of the issues?

Specifically:

- Use an Italian national, an EU company or a trustee (like godaddy)?
- Is there risk to just using the trustee, I have a close friend that is an Italian national I can use - is there a risk to that?
- Must I pay VAT on the purchase? The seller says I do. I don't know the rules.
- Will there any limitations to my business operations with the .IT domain? Will I have to charge VAT on purchases made on this site?

I see lots of international companies running .IT sites so I assume this can be done, I just want to set it up right from the beginning.
