Overture Keyword Selector Tool...R.I.P.
Alas, it is finally no more. Overture search numbers haven't been updated since about March/April. The only figures displayed were out of date results from January 2007. Now everything returns a "No suggestions for ..."
.

Looks like a glitch to me. Can't see would they would simply show no results as opposed to taking the whole thing down.
-
Actually sounds like something you'd expect as they make a system update. It never made sense to me that they'd never update again.

Search Results fo January 2007 - It has been like that for months
It worked yesterday because I used it. Today... No suggestions for real%20estate.

Maybe everybody on the planet stopped using the web, so all the numbers are -0-

Heres the fact. Nothing but a bunch of Yahoos are running Yahoo. That company has some serious issues. I submitted a request for the Yahoo Shopping network API, as I have a very strong shopping portfolio, and do you think they even respond? Now, why have a person fill out all the criteria, and simply ignore them? You would think that if they had a problem with something they would let me know? So I still park and google gets the money. Pure ignorance on Yahoos part. They are so stupid. I , for one, would pay for an enhanced version of suggestion tool, and these clowns wont even leave the simple no frills version functional, while they could make money off a more functional version. And then they killed the bid tool. All they need to do is put an S on the end of thier name and the story makes more sense.

You'r right. Yahoo is incompetent as a business enterprise. With all of their first hand search engine data, they could have been buying up all of the good domain names. But instead, shared that valuable data with us.

Maybe that is why it is no more?

Maybe they'll bring it back with a CAPTCHA, so that people have to use it manually, one query at a time, instead of using automated software.

Or why not, ahhh, errr, make some money by selling the domain name portion of it ...

Probably just drunken banter, but I was told(so 3rd hand, now fourth!) that Yahoo was astounded, during a deposition, at how heavy the tool was being abused.
My Take:
1) Of course they already have to know how much bandwidth the tool uses. But maybe they keyed into how few actually use it for bid prices.
2) Imagine suing someone, then finding out that a tool you offered up to theives was being used to steal money from your customers.

I wonder what they mean by "abuse", yahoo would have made hundreds of millions/possibly billions monetizing domains picked using that tool.

Instead their rival "Google" and domainers did.

I agree. Aren't 1/2 of all names typos these days?
__
And I wonder if they(yahoo) get any more than 1/3 of the traffic found?
Like I mentioned, just overheard chat on another forum.

Probably less than one third, yes, it would still be a huge amount of revenue.
