The Overture tool is being done away with permanently.

It was a fun ride while it lasted.

Still strange that they haven't taken it down.

It was strange too thay they didn't updte the content during the last months. That only shows what a mess Overture has becomed since big Y bought it.

So it sounds like someone was selling the Overture data but stopped...wonder if they got in trouble...at the prices they were selling it for, I wouldnt mine selling mine!

If you click on the 5 year range (for some reason the link below goes to the six month results) it shows the opposite of what I would have thought their traffic would have been, with the increase in online advertising, and the rise in the number of domainers using the OVT tool.

Very interesting. I think there has been a general domainer decline in the use of alexa which might account for some of the trend. I'm guessing the dip at the start of this year was the start of Panama (I think advertisers were given new tools).

That chart bases traffic on cookies, not bandwidth.

So, I would guess, enduser(that cookies are grabbed from) usage dropped probably because of google competition.

But, domainer usage probably went up 10x, but isn't reflected in the traffic data.

Are they switching to a new tool called the link advisor?

Thanks subg, interesting that this tool won't take a 'phrase input, key word only' but returns the precise phrase count

The original Overture runs to May 07 for UK counts

The output of this tool is far more ambigious providing results that contain the keyword fragment. Also does not work with extension that I can see.

Perhaps this is their compromise to keep providing the tool but make it far less useful for domainers?

So a "suggestion" tool has no value? There is no value to giving advertisors the ability to see into actual search data?

Note that the TLD for the new tool posted above is .in (India). Search results are heavily skewed toward that country.
