I unveiled the double-standards that rule this forum and you simply don't like it. Because you are not used to receiving a tonn of PM's for reported posts that break the rules you are mighty pissed off. That's understandable, I only ask you to be impartial. And my forum is doing well, thank you.

I can see how having 1 user online would be "doing well" to someone who craves so much self promotion for their efforts as yourself theo.

Drop the act, and either join in the spirit of the site or leave. We made it clear when we were mods at dnf just how much we rely on you for your contributions - I would have no hesitation in banning you here if this continues.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

To the best of my knowledge, the rules were just revised and this was the first time they have been since the forum was created

Interestingly, many of the revisions were in response to suggestions from members... including some active on this very thread. for example, the rule about not putting negative comments about names in sales threads. I would hope whoever suggested those revisions would take a moment to say -- hey, good, someone listened

Anyway.. now back to this thread's regularly scheduled programming...

What makes you think expressing your opinion has more value than me expressing mine? Why are you telling me to ignore and what I need to ignore? Thank you for being so "concerned".

Bottom line: I was asked to get my foot off the gas with those issues. But I don't see those arguments ending here by keeping this thread unlocked.

I often have issues with many rules and can appreciate the frustration felt by some users. I must say however that I have been relatively free to express my opinions on this forum and have been censored in a reasonable and fair way. I ask no more than this and would like to commend the mature mods for their reasonableness.

    Absolutely.

I belong to a number of forums and DomainState is far and away the best moderated...it's rare to find this level of maturity and professionalism on an internet forum.

Compare it to the wild west of the old Afternic boards or the capricious, ego-ruled tyranny of other boards (past and present) and I think you can't help but see this as an oasis.

The revised rules by and large strike me as being fair and in line the the continued evolution of DomainState as the sane and reasonable place to discuss domains.

I agree, Namethink. I like "no-nonsense", when it really is "no-nonsense". Sometimes I think "hey, maybe that's harsh", and then I search a bit and see signs of a trend I probably can't appreciate when not in the shoes of a "moderator". With DomainState, I honestly feel the bans have little to do with "ego" (at least on the part of the mods). The line between "voicing my opinion", and "disrupting the community" isn't a thin as some people would like to think. Kind of sets in when the speaker starts sounding less like a poster, and more like a rebel leader.

    Rules for Flame Wars
    http://www.alsirat.com/flame.html

    Some gems from the list:
    > Insist that you are an avatar of the Truth and that the other person is Falsehood incarnate, or at least "misled."
    > Dwell on errors. Correct them in others at every opportunity.
    > Insist that you are misunderstood.
    > If you can't find something to flame the person about, make something up. Convince yourself that you see the "real" motives.

I'm becoming convinced that Safesys must meditate everyday in fortifying his ability to distinguish being "baited" from having a genuine discussion.
