Bido.com closing and now up for sale
Bido.com closing and now up for sale. Along with the site comes all the tech, client lists, domains, brand.
Taking best offers now.
-
you guys gonna buy it too?
-
Haha. If we were, I don't think David would've asked me to post about it. We'd just be raising the price for ourselves...
-
I hope some one does pick it up. I think there is great potential there if the business model is modified a bit.

I did place an offer, but the price was already higher than I was willing to pay, so did not need to submit any more offers. But if the sale falls through, happy to go in again. Honestly I was just interested in the usership base and their auction platform source code..
Cheers

hmmmm......you make that sound not too important - isn't that basically all there is to the value? After all, what could be more important than the users list and the software platform. Maybe I am missing something else of high value but no idea what it could be?
-
Exactly, however the price was too high based on that. If you look at the cost of 6 months development time from 2 developers, the cost of that was fraction of what the price was already.
The database, you never really know how many would be unique that we do not already have.. so that part was not as valuable to us.

Of course the existing organic traffic, page ranks, etc. is also quite valuable.

The side does has good traffic, but that will die down as all the bloggers remove their direct, but mainly affiliate links. Traffic is only good if you can maintain it...
Ideally the new buyer would be someone that will use the domain and tech and "change" the way the site works...so that it is more profitable.

DS needs some changes pronto , the vital signs and pulse are fading (near catatonic stage)...
There.
Ask the member for ideas (your best source)
I personally think a Monthly auction will do good, if Bido type of mistakes can be avoided, there is buyers for quality names , not sure how to implemment a filter although ...
Also a monthly "expert' guest in the chatroom will bring more interest , I think, there is a lot of subjects: affiliates, c.c's, hosting, parking, the mobile revolution, minisites, legal, accounting etc etc
We are living challenging times and the domain market is not immune to the Economic World crisis in spite of a few very good sales out there ...but is obvious there is a 'flight to quality" ...

Many changes are about to go live... as for feedback thanks, always welcome!!
-
Good to know , I hope the changes are based on Domainer's feedback (wants and needs) , there is definately a hunger for information mainly on alternative monitization...
Cheers.

Domianers Feedback.. sorry but we have not really received all that much feedback to date... so we are adding most that we have received and many other things that we personally would like to see here.

I agree with domo, I think if you want to bring in traffic from a domain auction, then have a weekly auction, based on themes, I suggested this to sedo and they picked up on it but if the names didnt fit there criterea they werent included, we could have an auction here week one jewelry domains, week 2 health names, week 3 pet care names, week 4 travel names, problem with sedo is they are to big to deal wilth most domainers names so Only the cream of the crop makes there auctions 1,000 s of us domainers have decent names that end users would payy a decent price for if giving the right platform, a lot of our names dont get a ton of traffic but are consistent on traffic and clicks

I would start with one suggestion chastise posters who post blatant trademark infringments domainers love conflict the more heated the more they come back krispycreme.com see link

also I would have one adminsitrator comment on every appraissal
while I didnt agree with every appraissal ( some names sold for much more than what were appraissed in some cases 100x) it kept me coming back
