    Private registrations

Is it wise to use the "private registration" option when registering a domain? Or does that make it more difficult for others to contact you if they are interested in buying your domain? Thanks!

my guess it would put many buyers off, it raises a red flag for me that the domain might be stolen.
GamesRoom.com, Possum.com, Arithmetic.com on greatdomains auction, low reserves, priced to sell!

My biggest concern is that you only use such services at a *TRUSTED* registrar, one that will fight for you if your name is stollen. In other words once you use domain privacy you have *NO* *ZERO* *NADA* proof that is was your name, you only have the registrars word for who the owner *WAS*.

You can at anytime drop a suponea on them to release who the owner was (you), less than $100 in most parts of the US.

But I am not a big fan of Private registrations either , simply because they project an image of something less than straight forwardness. The registrars like them because they get to charge an extra fee

My point was to avoid problems, not place a $ price on them.

Thanks all. I think I agree that private registration is not such a good idea.
