How much startup $ do I need to realistically enter the domain name business?
I'm new to the domain name business. In my research I have learned that I can expect only 1% to 2% domain name sales a year. How much money can I expect to invest initially to make a legitimate go of this business? Not necessarily full time but to build it slowly.
Or is developing a website more realistic at this stage of the game?
Welcome here. You really need to first learn the business then you can be talking of the amount to invest on the business; You need to think of advert/marketing strategy to convince the end user to buy your domains. After you have learnt the business strategies, you will be ablle to know how much needed to start the business. It is not something you can just think it is easy just like that.
This is the same mistake many new commers always commited, they just think it is something to just enter the market and just hand register any names without knowing the values of such domain.
Please try to learn first and the rest will become easy for you. Read articles on domaining at www.DomainSession.com
Cheers and good luck.

I would recommend investing in learning, too. You should know what you will be doing...
