What are the important things, statistics, etc. to ask a seller about a domain that you are considering buying? How firm is a seller usually on its asking price; that is, is there usually a lot of room for negotiation? And please "dumb-down" your reply as much as possible as I am really new at this! Thanks!

the biggest obsticle you must overcome when buying names with traffic is the traffic generated just for the sale or is it natural, unless you can analize traffic(few can) this isnt the best approach in buying names. Many sellers are quiete open to offers, but those who own names with genuine traffic generally no its worth, its the guys who fudge the traffic who will sell for cheap.
Just remmember beleive no one when traffic stats are claimed
