What is the status of .INFO domains
At one point .INFO was at third position among major TLD extentions.
It is hard to see any .INFO site coming in first 10 searches for any keyword.
Is their any future for .INFO domains.
Thanks

I'd imagine that most of the old-timers here are probably bummed out about engaging in this type of debate.
Look around at the number of total registrations, developed sites, after-market sales data here and other domain forums/venues and you'd get the picture.
My personal observation and opinion is that .INFO has established itself quite well as the 4th most popular gTLD (after the original 3) and is the most successful of all of the new tlds ever released.

Austria.info, Spain.info is nice. Vienna.info too. Catapults.info, Tracheotomy.info, SpanishCourses.info, CraftIdeas.info, Split.info, AdamBrown.info, ScottElliott.info, AnimalNews.info, Chernobyl.info on first page.

Wow! Austria.info is at 2nd position.
Is it true because .info domain being cheep (.99 cent) lot of SEO companies were using .info domain for keyword optimization for main .com website. Looking at this search engine started given g less importance to .info domains.

Google reps have said a number of times that they don't discriminate by gTLD. When you think about it it would be a crazy thing to do way way too crude even for a basic search engine. Google has quite a few Phd's

My understanding was based on some articles I read about .info domains. In that article they had mentioned that because of cheap availability of this domain many webmaster and seo companies are abusing .info domains for keyword optimization.

Part of the SEO Blogosphere loves to create drama around .info.
A while ago, Google didn't index some .info pages for a few hours and the same people had a field day having a go at .info
What those people also failed to mention was Google also didn't index some .co.uk pages. Now a story like .info is cheap so Google doesn't like it flies and as a consequence makes good link bait. But they would have been laughed of the face of web if they had said Google doesn't like .co.uk sites anymore.

I have heard that same old argument whenever I have said something positive about .info extension.
But it is getting really old now and people are running out of negative stuff to say about .info
Whatever domain extension you have you still need to work on your SEO like anybody else, there is no special treatment from Google just because you have .com

quite agree
if you build a mfa site on a .info dont expect to get that front page but design a nice site with proper code and content and work hard on your seo agaiunst your keyword competitors then it will get the recognition it deserves
bleedin myth this and it does my head in about .info domains nothing wrong with them ranked plenty 1st/2nd page of course it suits me if nobody wants to pay top dollar means i will take over my competitors in their expensive samename.com for next to nothing and not for the first time either
