My point being could there have been a registry mistake here that caused Seafood.info to be placed into drop status in error. There's a thread link on another forum that makes reference to the domain being registered through 2009 though not sure if any merit to that claim.

What can I do about it now...???????

I'd write or call Moniker (Monte) immediately. Perhaps Moniker experienced technical difficulties renewing your domain, or did so but the recent problems at Afilias failed to record your renewal properly. That you have record of renewal payment 5 days prior to expiration is pretty compelling evidence it would seem.

Thanks Carlton. Just wrote an e-mail to Monte via this forum and also to Moniker Rep. Don Lyons...see what happens. Wonder if I can file a motion in a local court in this regard if nothing happens?

Not knowing exactly what happend yet, it would appear the domain should not have expired and entered the drop cycle. That is the # 1 responsibility of any registrar to their customer. My assumption is if someone paid their normal registration fee by the due date, then it would be incumbent upon the registrar to do everything necessary, whatever is required, to restore the domain to its rightful owner.
Given Moniker's advertised security and customer service focus, I assume they will quickly intervene and take over to help you. Please keep us posted. Many domainers have not yet seen your post, but will be very invested in the response and outcome.

NOTE:
1) Registries *AUTO RENEW* all domains, period
2) Registrars literally *DO NOTHING* to renew domains
3) A registrar must *DELETE* a domain, in other words the operation is compeletely backwords of what you think
- Do nothing -> renew
- Do something -> delete -> goes to pending delete
Therefor: Registry operations do not apply, period ... *PERIOD*.
Next up: Expiration date's relationship to "deletion date"
Simply put, there is none.
A domain may be deleted at any time, *ANY TIME*. And since the registry *ALLWAYS* auto renews all domains, the deletion date/time is purely controled by the sponsoring registrar and when they *SEND* EPP Delete(DomainName).
Only exception I know of are the fake landrush domains (Afilias seems to override the registrar in some way), and one other that is too abstract and does not apply to this discussion anyway.

In other words (put simply) Moniker is the one fully responsible here to "actively" delete the domain and dump it back in the circulation for others to regsiter...Wow...What a competent & secure registrar here!!

I'm not pointing any fingers, I'm just pointing out this issue freqently comes up in discussion and wanted to make sure everyone knows how the registrar/registry interface works in this case.
Also that if the registrar deletes a domain within ~45 days of autorenewal they will receive *A REFUND* of the amount debited at autorenew. This is the basis of transfer fullfillment: Nab the domain as soon after expiration (AKA Autorenew) and auto it *BEFORE* the "renewal grace period" ends. If you get no takers you delete for a refund, if you get a bidder you know *NOT* to delete the domain as you're guarenteed a payment to cover the autorenew operation.
So, and I will make an industry judgement call here, all deletes, or "repos", that occur before the end of renewal grace are *PREDITORY* deletes/repos. However transfer fullfillment can't work unless the registrar works this way, thus again transfer fullfillment needs to stop or be stopped ...

Affilias did have some issues as everyone knows.
I will look into this personally.

The issue was their system deleted all pending delete domains on a single night, basically ignoring the redemption/schedualed for release state of each domain in the pending delete state.
Per my whois monitoring, all affected domains have been placed back into their previous state, with an extension. It was my public whois scanner that also informed me of the original problem, as did others systems here on DS.
SEAFOOD.INFO dropped before the above event occured, just a couple of days before it I recall correctly.

Affilias had issues in the past week. The domain entered pending delete about 45 days ago. I would love to see how this turns out. I am willing to bet actually. It's going to turn out ugly.
