I think some would argue there have at least been a couple of cases of fibrillation.

Yes but even Rick's artificial massage has failed to give it life.

I would have gone that far, this was an ultra strong extension 12 months ago in terms of price growth. Basically the only new tld to have ever done anything much in terms of gains, even though they look to have been short lived.

I would call it "gambling" and the odds aren't as good now.
Your domains are never completely worthless. They can always be used as a bad example.

I think it coincided with the Blueberry mania and that is what got so many people interested.
But the investment rule is: Buy on rumor and sell on news.
The news is out:
iPhone forms the majority of mobile internet users. The general trend now is to surf real websites on phone ... within two or three years, every internet phone will surf like an iphone and maybe even better as technology will keep on improving. Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese iphone me toos will saturate the market.
Apple invented the mouse based GUI. They also invented the iphone browser.

it was nice seeing a .mobi site all over prime tv courtesy of the iphone but expensive technology, and by expensive I mean higher than a gallon of milk (which is high) will be the first casualty of bad economic times - people will buy only the cheapest most basic of things
the iphone isn't just a phone - it's a phone, full featured web browser, ipod, media player - and with the recent announcements it's also going to be getting motion sensing 3d accelerated games from big players, enterprise functionality plus "legal" 3rd party apps. In other words, it is really a mobile platform - and that is the "killer app".
there is a real economy in having one device for all.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

I get what you're saying about mobile specific sites - they can make it a better experience than the normal site, but companies can weigh up if it's worth it to them to develop mobile specific sites knowing that as time progresses more and more people can access their normal site on a mobile device.
I'd argue that that has to have an impact on the desire/need to target them with specific content.
.mobi is wrapped up in all this and even moreso when you bring in speculation which relies on not only people wanting to develop a mobile site, but also them wanting to pay a premium for the specific .mobi site vs using an alternate delivery strategy like sub-domains or, auto-redirect.
exactly. this is whats called "a solution looking for a problem".
.mobi was headed for a peaceful existence as another humble "also-ran" in the TLD field when *somebody* caught auction fever (aided by a little bit of "inside information" about the other bidder) and went way over their initial limit to win a prize. of course everyone saw that and went " gee what is it we dont know?". the rest is history.
if you own .mobi's now you better drop em like turds or else wind up with doody on your hands.

Do Not Try to Sell Me Your .Mobi Names
Posted on March 13th, 2008 by Rick Latona
I have no interest in these names. I think the entire extension is ridiculous. They are worthless. I don’t care what other .mobi names have sold for either. I have zero faith in the extension and will not buy any .mobi names.
I do wish everyone luck that has one.

I'm suprised of his words 1)due to his connections to some notorious .mobi investors. 2) as well as his ownership of digipawn (in P.R terms)
At least he is refreshingly candid, perhaps he is bombarded by people trying to pawn their .mobi names.

Yeah probably, I have noticed that there seems to be more of a "desperate" feel with .mobi and .tv investors lately, seems to be more firesale type situations (whole portfolios offered below cost) and increasingly common comments that these extensions are not working out as people had hoped.
eg
"I'm selling my entire portfolio to raise cash for a new project. My total investment in these domains is over $5000."

So you guys have nothing better to do than spend so much time bashing .mobi?
That kind of hate of an extension must come from either fear or jealousy imo.
How else can you justify all this?
I am sure you can better spend your time than looking up all the negative comments about mobi all the time.
Geez! Let mobi take its own course
Mobi is the 2nd most successful TLD of all time and time will prove it has its place on the web.

You must have bought a heck of a lot of these names to come out with that statement.
