    value based on pure typins

Has anyone ever discussed the value of a domain based on pure type in value alone?

We've got a domain that gets 650 typins a month. Music / youth culture related. Teen to young adult age group. M/F equally shared.

Anyone want to venture a guess?

    value

you need to be very careful when evaluating a domain. remember, when marchex paid 8x revenue, they used overture income as ult search was an affiliate of overture. so when selling domains, remember you should get 8x overture revenue.

I doubt that a valuation is possible without knowing the name and whether the traffic has commercial value

Your best bet would be to look at the Overture bid amounts for the term/word

OV shows 7 listings from $.16 to .05 for the subject matter.

the exact phrase of the domain shows $.10

park it with one of the main services and get some revenue stats under your belt.
When using google for counts - use double quotes for usage counts for multiword terms and set "match type" to "exact" for all search volume lookups. Click here for more info

The problem is that it's a good traffic catcher for another site (exactly related) and didn't want to lose the traffic.

The problem with that is that people will assume the worst - whereas with figures from a well known service you have a good basis for value.

Well we already make money off the site as it is, so there is not a real rush to sell. We are happy to sit on the domain and collect a little bit every month until someone is willing to convince us to move off it.

Understood - but you posted asking for an appraisal of the traffic, and you can't get a real feel for that "as is".

Actually I got exactly what I asked for from sgopalam and others.

And I didn't ask for an apprasial, I asked for the value of a domain based on traffic stats and market. I was then asked for the Ov numbers and from that we got a number. That's exactly what I was looking for.

$0 is below $1,000, but if that is truly what you were looking for as a valuation then so be it.

real figures from real recognised services will help you get a real feel for value. not guesstimates.
