I think I just caught on that you can safely bid above your means because the chances of getting even half of the names you're bidding on is unlikely...

Say I throw down 10 $30 bids. By end of auction about half will be outbid or closed. Then on the ones I have high bid on I'd I actually win 1 in 3 or 1 in 2...

Now I'm sure the first time I go hogwild I'll have a disaster of a credit card bill and my point will be moot, but I'm just sharing my findings, regardless of how self-evident or completely false they may be to others.
