How much value in expired domain traffic?
How much value do you put in an expired domain's traffic? Do you see a domain that gets 5000 hits per month as valuable? What about 10,000? When do you start taking notice and what price are you willing to pay for this traffic?
What factors do you take into account when determining the quality/potential of this traffic?
Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

I own several expired domains and it ranges from $1 to $200. It really depends on a niche and origin of the traffic A LOT.
Typically with expired domains traffic goes down quite quickly after the domain drops, after search engines cut you off, which is another risk of the expired domains, usually the traffic is gone already during the renewal-deletion-transfer process when site disappears and in my experience only like 1 out of 20 is able to keep the traffic after 3 months.

have a look at some of the domain auction sites and you will see people fighting to get an expired domain with this kind of traffic. there are other factors that come into consideration such as PR and back links. also if the domain has the most popular extensions (.com .net or .org) and the name itself is short, memorable, no hyphens, underscores and numbers then it can be very valuable

How Would You Know?
How would you know if a domain has such high hits? Yes there are gems among drops list, but mind you, it is not all drops that are traffic domains. There are plenty of dry land in the desert regeon. Watch it well before taken any drop domains. Cheers.
