Can be done. Perhaps you'd like to team up on such a "weather report"?

Mm, it'd be interesting, but without the cooperation of the different services... or any type of regulation of that interaction... I'm skeptical that it would really be as authoritative and informative as it should be. Like dialog's whowas, is nice, but its not as authoritative as one would like. Even sites like Archive.org seem have eventually given way to "is this paying the bills?" type bumps in the road. I don't know how something like this would "work".

Another important factor to rate the effectiveness of eNom club drop with other services is number of members. Suppose the success rate of eNom getting a name is 40%, but how many members are sharing the names?

I have another question, suppose eNom did not get me any domains in the last few days of my membership, does the remaining days roll over to the next month? Or the count restarts in the new month? Anybody know?

eNom Drop Club did exceptionally well for me today and got almost 12% of the 66 names I went for. I don't normally get anything near that percentage though.

All I can say is that we're improving on almost a daily basis right now. There's always more to discover :-)

I have only one word to say about Enom Drop Club and I will say this word even knowing it is not in my interest:

    THANKS!

Just in case you haven't noticed, eNom has recently added Stargate to their muscle in catching names.

This will be good for the eNom results.

At the moment though, it means that there will apparently be a 5-7 day delay before we can use a domain after acquiring it. i.e. we can't change the DNS until it is moved over to eNom.

Chris, is there any chance that we could specify our preferred Name Servers? That way we could have access to our domains even if the transfer takes up to a week.

This would also be a great time saver for domains won directly by eNom.

I guess this is probably outside your area, but if you can get default Name Servers for us, I think this would be really useful. Thanks

I doubt names would be moved from stargate to enom as it would mean deleting them then reregistering them? ie what happened at snapnames until they started losing names.

    enom distribution...

    How is it done?

Their FAQ's are vague to say the least.

If one adds a list, and others add the same domain to their lists, and enom registers the domain, how is that domain distributed? What criteria is used?

    cambler, you could answer this?

I could answer how it's done right now, but we're in the process of examining that to see if changes should be made, so hang out on that for a moment.

As for default servers, yes, that's a very smart idea, and I'll bring it up today. I don't see a reason why we can't do that.

I've been told that we're working on that. As of today, at least, the DNS will default to the free eNom name servers so that the name will be usable immediately. That is a good interim step.
